Sasha Digiulian and Felipe Camargo climb Pedra Riscada (8a) 650m

Some projects take time to happen, especially when they involve climbing one of the most challenging mountains in Brazil. The timing has to be perfect and the team must be solely focused on the job in hand. With its 650m face and a difficulty level of 8a, the Planeta dos Macacos route had never been completed from the bottom before the perfect team – Felipe Camargo and Sasha DiGiulian – came to tackle it in the summer of 2016.

Climbing Pedra Riscada isn’t a small challenge: the conditions have to be right, and the preparation includes bedding down for a night in the middle of the climb. The rain didn’t make things any easier, but for Sasha, it was a great experience nonetheless:

The portaledge was like a five-star hotel for me. The best part, of course, was to wake up with that amazing view.
– Sasha Digiulian
