Will Bosi wiederholt Spots of Time (9A) in Helvellyn Lake District
Aidan Roberts gelang es Anfang des Jahres, eines seiner zwei Langzeitprojekte zu begehen. Die zunächst als Helvellyn-Projekt bekannt gewordene Linie im Norden Englands hatte er im Mai 2023 auf der Suche nach einem neuen und schweren Boulderprojekt nur einen Steinwurf von seinem Zuhause entfernt entdeckt. Anfang diesen Jahres lief es dann perfekt in Sachen Koordination, dem präzisen Platzieren harter Heelhooks und der Ausführung einer sehr komplexen Bewegungsabfolge. Das ehemalige Helvellyn-Projekt wurde von Aiden nach der Erstbegehung in Spots of Time (9A) umbenannt.
Am Samstag, den 19. Oktober, gelang Will Bosi nach gerade einmal acht Sessions die erste Wiederholung von Aiden Roberts Testspiece, Spots of Time (9A), im Helvellyn Lake District.
Dies ist Wills vierte 9A und nach seiner Begehung von Return of the Sleepwalker in Red Rocks sein zweiter Boulder in diesem Schwierigkeitsgrad in diesem Jahr. 2022 begann Will mit Shawn Raboutous Alphane die 9A-Jagd. Nalle Hukkataivals „Burden of Dreams“ in Lappnor folgte 2023.
Ever since Aidan completed this project, I have been psyched to give it a go. What an incredible line! I had a really fun process finding my method as although there are only a couple of holds on the wall it’s a very technical boulder and each move takes time to work out the right beta for you. Everything about the boulder makes it amazing, from its quiet location up on Helvellyn to the fact it is a pure face with only one line and just the perfect amount of holds.

Zur Frage des Grades
Es ist schon Tradition, dass der erste Wiederholer gefragt wird, ob er den Bewertungsvorschlag des Erstbegehers bestätigt oder nicht. Am Ende wird hier jedoch nur über eine Zahl diskutiert. Da Will bis dato der einzige ist, der alle potenziellen 9A-Boulder geklettert hat, ist er auch der einzige, der einen Vergleich hat, ob es sich nun eher um eine sehr schwere 8C+ oder doch um eine 9A handelt.
I am pretty confident the problem is 9A and is very similar to Burden of Dreams in quite a few ways. I think the sequence I used was a bit easier than what Aidan did however I think both sequences suit our styles perfectly so I’m not sure if what I did is actually easier or not. I honestly think the boulder is one of the best hard lines in the world and I hope it attracts more people to come try it!.

Auf die Frage, welches Projekt als Nächstes ansteht, meinte Will nur:
I am shortly heading to Japan to explore some of the outdoor climbing there for the first time so I cannot wait to see what a country with such a rich heritage of hard climbing has to offer.
Schau ma mal, ob die japanischen Boulder eine Chance gegen Wills Leistenpower haben. Vielleicht zieht es ihn ja doch schneller nach Bleau, als er aktuell glaubt.
