Brad Pitt (7C) in Stanage Plantation

Dreamt about climbing this mythical boulder problem since my early climbing days. Seeing it in boulder films and hearing everyone talking about it just made me want to climb it even more. Iv touched it a number of times but its always been in bad condition so never really jumped on it till this weekend. Saturday we had a couple tries but couldn’t even touch the second hold due to conditions. We came back the next evening to find decent conditions as the temperatures dropped into the night. Flood lights on and off we went. Battling is the wrong word though. To climb this you need to be in the moment, calm and collected. Having the patience to find the perfect position for the heel to roll into, finding the perfect position for your right foot, body position and how bent the arm should be. Millimeters can mean certain failure until that one effort where everything just feels right. you get the right hand on then suddenly you feel like you can actually go for the jug. A rush of excitement ensues as you go for the jug. You catch it, buzzing with excitement moments before topping out to the view of a setting sun over Stanage. Words cannot describe how elated I was.
